Kizito Beyuo has been the Managing Partner of BEYUO & CO since its establishment in 2008. Prior to this, he worked at Tetteh & Co from October 1993, starting as a pupil and advancing to the role of Senior Associate by 2008. With over 30 years of legal expertise, Kizito has built a robust practice that spans corporate and commercial law, with a special focus on dispute resolution. Kizito was appointed as a Notary Public for the Republic of Ghana in 2004.
Kizito has cultivated a distinguished litigation career experience, having represented clients in the High Court, Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Ghana. His litigation portfolio includes investment and commercial disputes, breach of contract claims, loss of profit, liability determinations, and significant claims on promissory notes. His expertise spans sectors such as banking, energy, real estate, and information technology. Kizito’s passion for imparting knowledge and mentoring upcoming lawyers has led him to take up a position as a lecturer in Civil Litigation at the University of Ghana School of Law.
Kizito has extensive experience in corporate and commercial law, handling a wide range of complex legal matters. He has provided legal counsel on high-value transactions, negotiated multimillion-dollar deals, and advised both individuals and multinational corporations on Ghanaian investment and commercial law.
A seasoned arbitrator, Kizito has served as sole or co-arbitrator in over ten high-stakes commercial arbitrations, covering industries including franchising, manufacturing, energy, technology, real estate, and stevedoring. He continues to serve as co-arbitrator in several high-value disputes, including cases involving banking regulation and international business transactions.
Kizito has also acted as counsel in numerous arbitrations under the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration rules, as well as in several ad-hoc arbitrations.
He has previously sat on a couple of National Boards: the Governing Council of University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and Ghana Prisons Council.
A recognized authority in arbitration, Kizito regularly speaks at both local and international arbitration workshops and conferences. He has contributed to the Global Arbitration Review (GAR) chapters on Ghana in 2012 and 2013, and co-authored a chapter in the book Rethinking the Role of African National Courts in Arbitration (2018), edited by Emilia Onyema.
He regularly gives lectures, talks and participates in webinars on International Arbitration in Ghana.
